Tie in gold tinsel (about 3 in.) and three strands of peacock herl just in from of goose biots.

STEP 4

Using hackle pliers, grasp the end of the peacock herl and twist into a herl rope being careful not to twist the herl too tightly (herl will break).  Wrap the herl rope to just behind the bead head, tie off and trim the tap ends.

STEP 5

Wrap the gold tinsel over the herl in a spiral pattern toward the bead head.  Tie off and trim tag end.

STEP 6

Tie in brown hen hackle behind bead head.  Fibers should be 1 – 1.5 times hook gap in length.  Make two wraps with the hackle while you comb fibers toward hood bend with your fingers.  Tie off hackle and trim tag end.

STEP 7

Tie in two white goose biots in a “V” pattern on top of the hook immediately behind the bead head.  The biots will cover the hen hackle on top of the hook.  Trim the tag ends of the biots.

STEP 8

Whip finish the head of the fly just behind the bead head and cement the thread wraps.  Fish this fly on a dead drift.  It is quite effective in tandem configurations!
